PEP's Professional Learning Communities (PLC) program helps principals build distributed  leadership capacity to improve learning for all students.  Participants learn to create a school structure which will lead to shared vision and actions to improve student achievement,  teaching, and learning. Sessions will cover team building, assessment, and developing student interventions. The role of PLCs in the New School Executive Standards will also be covered.

PEP is committed to geographic diversity, ensuring access for all public school administrators. Administrators in high-need districts and Tier 5 schools are encouraged to enroll in PEP programs so State resources are targeted to areas of greatest need.

Current public school principals are eligible to attend the PLC program. Public school assistant principals are eligible to attend PLC if their current principals are PLC graduates or are currently enrolled in a PLC program.

PLC comprises two, two-day meetings at the UNC Center for School Leadership Development in Chapel Hill.  The nonrefundable $250 registration fee covers program expenses. Participants are responsible for the cost for travel and lodging.
