The PATL Team consists of four people employed full-time by the Principals' Executive Program.  They have full responsibility for design and implementation of PATL, and also provide technical and instructional support to other PEP leadership programs.

Deborah Pedersen is director of technology at PEP. She designs curriculum and teaches in PATL as well as in many other PEP programs. She has worked in instructional technology since 1987, eleven years in North Carolina public schools.  Deborah also worked with LEARN NC for two years developing an online internet resources library and conducting instructional technology workshops across North Carolina.  (919-843-6429 or deborahp@northcarolina.edu
Chris Hitch is an Assistant Director at PEP. He focuses on developing
distance learning modules for the different PEP programs and teaches in the
PEP programs as well. Chris has served as an assistant principal, principal,
math consultant, HR director, and charter school consultant. Prior to PEP,
Chris served as a product director for a multinational technology training

Matt Coffey serves as PATL’s Computer Consultant. He is responsible for the maintenance of the PEP database, the creation of new training documentation and he will also teach in programs. John Flude is the computer training specialist for PEP/PATL. He handles all program logistics, participant concerns and database/website updates. John is a graduate of The Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Communications Media. He also has spent several years in human resources, sales and management with a concentration in graphic design, webwork, training and development. (919-843-5800 or jflude@northcarolina.edu)


Sam Anthony is Director of Lecture Programs at the National Archives and Records Administration, an agency where he was worked for 12 years. From 1991 to 1994 he worked as an archives technician in the microfilm, textual, and motion picture research rooms. From 1994 to 1998 he assisted patrons with their research as a member of the Archives Library Information Center. Since 1998, he has worked in the Public Programs (now Museum Programs) office, hosting over 350 lectures, book signings, and symposia. He received his B.A. from UNC-CH in 1991 and his M.L.S. from the University of Maryland in 1998. sam.anthony@nara.gov.

Shirley Arrington is an assistant director at PEP and a graduate of PEP 18.  Shirley directs both the Higher School Performance Program and the Developing Future Leaders Program.  She received a BS from North Carolina Wesleyan College.  She holds an MA and an Ed.D. from Campbell University.  Address: PEP, NCCSLD, 140 Friday Center Drive, Room 225, Chapel Hill, NC 27599, 919/843-8841 or sharring@northcarolina.edu.

Frances Bradburn is the director of the Division of Instructional Technologies for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.  She received a Masters of Library Science from UNC-Greensboro and a Bachelor’s from Wake Forest University. Previously, Ms. Bradburn served as the Section Chief for both Educational Resources Evaluation Services and School Media Programs at DPI. Address:  NCDPI, 301 N. Sheila Cory is a PEP Associate.  Before coming to PEP she was the director for instructional technology and media in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro City Schools.  She holds a BA in Sociology from San Francisco State University and a masters and a doctorate in Educational Psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill.  Address: 55 Cedar Street, Chapel Hill, NC 27514, 919/967-0937.

Gene Gallelli is an assistant director at PEP and a former associate superintendent of Dare County Schools.  Before coming to PEP he worked at the NC Department of Public Instruction, heading up the state's Effective Schools project.  He holds BS and MS degrees from SUNY at Fredonia and an EdS from SUNY at Buffalo.  Address: PEP, NCCSLD, 140 Friday Center Drive, Room 225, Chapel Hill, NC 27599, 919/966-4703 or gallelli@northcarolina.edu.

Debbie Goldbeck is an assistant director with PEP and a former teacher and administrator in the Nash-Rocky Mount Schools.  She holds a BS and an MA from East Carolina University.  An APEP 10 graduate, she was elected class vice president and won a School Improvement Project Award.  Address: PEP, NCCSLD, 140 Friday Center Drive, Room 225, Chapel Hill, NC 27599, 919/962-2199 or goldbeck@northcarolina.edu.

Daryll Powell is PEP’s associate director and the assistant director for the Leadership Program for New Principals.  Before coming to PEP he was a principal in the Durham Public Schools.  He holds a BA from the University of Louisville and an MA from Cornell University.  A PEP 36 graduate, he was class vice president and a Jack McCall Award winner.  Address: PEP, NCCSLD, 140 Friday Center Drive, Room 225, Chapel Hill, NC 27599, 919/966-4706 or dpowell@northcarolina.edu.

Brad Sneeden is PEP's Director and UNC Associate Vice President for University-School Programs.  Before coming to PEP he was Deputy Superintendent for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and a teacher, administrator and superintendent in Craven County.
